Dunkard or Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Talent, OR

This is believed to the Dunkard Church that once stood next to the Dunkard Cemetery in Talent, Oregon. The church building (and therefore congregation) was moved to Ashland where it was seen in this photograph. In Ashland it was placed on Iowa Street and later became incorporated into the Ashland High School Campus buildings. Note the separate doors- one for men and one for women in front of the church.

[CITY HAPPENINGS.   M. E. Minear died at his home near Jacksonville last Monday afternoon from pneumonia, and was buried at Talent Tuesday under the auspices of the Dunkard Chruch, of which he was an honored and respected member. A sad circumstance in his death was the absence of his wife and children, who have been visiting their old home in Minnesoa, and who were unable to reach here before his death and burial, and will probably not arrive before Sunday. Mr. Minear was born in Indiana, April 8, 1854, and later moved to Iowa, where he resided until a little more than a year ago, when he came to Jackson County and located on a farm near Jacksonville, where he resided at the time of his death. He leaves a wife and seven children, and one brother, O. D. Minear, who was with his during his last illness.]
